Vibe Codin’

A parody of “Jive Talkin’” — Bee Gees, 1975  •  Words by KLP  •  Revised by GitHub Copilot

“Jive Talkin’” — Bee Gees (1975)
0:00 –:––
Vibe Codin’, AI tell me no lies!
Our sparkin’ — brings tears to my eyes
I’m learnin’ more than I ever could,
Prompt responses are really that good!
Oh, AI: when you complete code
Logic’s structured and it runs so cool…
If my token credits should fall to zero
As backup I’ve got Raina down in Magic School!
With all our Vibe Codin’, no longer a sap!
Hard coding to crank out an app!
My wishes become our commands —
Genie magic meets software demands!
[waiting for API response…]
…doo doo doo
Dearest Claude: Syntax is hard
You write it like you’re livin’ large
You free my focus to chart the course
I am the pilot right? The one in charge…
of all our
Vibe Coding
Errors are a surprise
I’m ready, I won’t agonize
My training — it all comes into play
Foundations, they will save the day!
Now CS traditions…they’re all very fine
But Vibe Codin’ it isn’t a crime
No typos should get in your way
Vibe Coding, well it’s here to stay
[spinner intensifies]
…do do do
Now thirty kids, they’ve got thirty screens,
Prompting requests that break all coding dreams —
“Make my website smell like fresh-baked bread!”
Claude tried its best… used Comic Sans instead.
[Repeat opening chorus]
[Repeat last verse]
Yeah yeah yeah

What the AI Revised

  • Chorus 1 — singability fix: “S.P.A.R.K.’n” → “sparkin’”. Five spoken letters was punishing on the melody. “Sparkin’” scans cleanly and preserves the S.P.A.R.K. meaning.
  • Chorus 2 — trimmed + chorus variation: Removed “I’m no longer a sap” (the original is a 4-line chorus every time — 5 was one bar too many). Opened with “With all our…” to mirror what the Bee Gees actually do on the second pass.
  • Chorus 3 — meter fix: “My training it all” → “My training — it all”. The em-dash gives the line the breath it needs and removes the stumble on “it.”
  • Both interludes — punchlines added: “[waiting for API response…]” and “[spinner intensifies]”. Instrumental breaks are prime comedic real estate. Leaving them as plain “doo doo doo” was waste.
  • New classroom verse — the Weird Al move: The “fresh-baked bread / Comic Sans instead” couplet is hyper-specific, groan-worthy, and only possible if you’ve actually stood at the front of a CS classroom. That’s the Weird Al test: the absurdity has to be real.

Notes & References

Raina — A student at Magic School who served as a backup collaborator when AI token credits ran low. A very real classroom moment.

Claude — The AI model powering GitHub Copilot (Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet), used to both critique and revise this parody. Yes, it also wrote the Comic Sans line.

Comic Sans — The universally panned typeface haunting the internet since 1994. A student who prompts for a website that “smells like fresh-baked bread” and gets Comic Sans learns more about prompt specificity than any lecture could teach.

S.P.A.R.K. — TNT’s AI-assisted development framework. See the chat log for the full creative & revision process.
